Theme4 Five-Year Goals

(i) Through the use of comparative genomic and metagenomic analysis, and cancer genome analysis, we will contribute to the clarification of evolution by reconstructing the evolutionary tree, as well as to the discovery of new microorganisms and their genes, clarification of the characteristics of cancers, etc.; thus reforming the life sciences so as to gain an understanding of diseases such as cancer, as well as biodiversity.
(ii) We will develop diagnostic technologies that form the basis of personalized medicine, as well as technologies for order-made drug administration, prediction of prognosis, etc.
(iii) By developing and applying technologies that further our understanding of pathologies and the life program constituted by the interplay of biological molecules, compounds, environmental factors, etc., we aim to make breakthroughs in the prediction of drug efficacy and adverse reactions, estimation of the causes of toxicity, drug-resistant genes, the search for drug targets, etc
